DCON Weekend!

So, before I go into my weekend and DCON, can I just say...

THIS SHIRT IS EXCELLENT!Final item on my birthday list guys! This is right now my favorite shirt in the world, and I can't even remember where I saw it, I just laughed and copy and pasted it and didn't save the site.

But moving on: YAY UNIVERSITY OF AKRON CIRCLE K CLUB! We came back with an astonishing 14 awards this year (granted some of these were honorable mentions, but I'm gonna say that counts as an award.) Including my own Honorable Mention for "Quality Club Member."

Just, so many things happened this weekend to blog about everything. There was the ride down, where me kayla and patsy listened to NOW cd's and my music from the 90s/early 2000s. Then the magic show, and shopping, house of delegates, asians in the mall and cops on segways. So, so many things. And so many quotes I can't even remember all of them - but in the TV show that is my life, this is definitly on the top 3 favorite episodes of most of my fans I bet. Cause it was hilarious. I'm so glad my show is a dramedy and not a cop show o.o

Quote of the Day:

*blank stare and silence; suddenly perks up really happy* "OH MY GOD! PEOPLE FROM PARMA Should be called Parmesians!" - Andrew, at OSU

(I'm really disapointed I couldn't think of any quotes from DCON to put on here! :( )

Things people looked like this weekend: Amy Winehouse, Jabba the Hut, a Frog, Sam from Lord of the Rings and Radar from M*A*S*H*.

Song of the Day: "Single Ladies", Beyonce. Just because its been stuck in my head all day, even though this may have been the song of the day already. I don't know if I've ever made a rule about not having the same song twice, though I've consciously tried not to. Also, because apparently Hugh Jackman danced to this song at the Oscars last night - lol.

Entertaining Link of the Day, (Unrelated to DCON) : Comic Coverage: World's Coolest Government Logo. The new secret police of Russia are apparently trying DESPERATELY to look like the council of badguys from a generic 60's superhero cartoon - lol.

Busy Sort of President's Day

Happy sort'v-President's Day!

(Haha, ya get it? Okay, enough with the holiday photo-puns.) So I was about to write "what a great weekend" but today's Tuesday! So in the crazy-University of Akron universe, we got Tuesday off for President's day (which was Monday?) so got to hang and party with the gang! Which was tons of fun, as always, I love my friends. Never a dull moment, particularly the dull moments are full of excitement.

So it's not really that nothing happened since my last post, just that I don't feel like posting about it. I've def told the crazy story of my family and the "we're not following the instructions" like a dozen times, but if you want to hear it again I'll reenact it in person for you.

But yes, hung with Sarah and Kayla last night which was a bunch of fun. This morning worked 8-10am which was not :( then napped for 2 hours. Then the three of us + patsy, mike, kim, ross and jacob all went and got Swenson's which we so rarely do. Then we got a temps renewed, stopped by Patsy's house, and got some mall-perusin in. And then a couple games of "Dirty Minds" at Kims, then dinner at Barley House. Non-stop excitement!

Now I'm at work again, kinda tired, and I just want to go to bed. Listening to not so good radio music. Maybe I'll switch to Pandora soon.

Some excellent things that happened today: Mike got shushed equal to or more than 2 times at the DMV (oh - excuse me, BMV.) I stole Sarah's car temporarily. Funny rejection at the bar, and later a chase scene. Rather than Building a Bear, we Created a Camel, Adorned an Aardvark, and Made a Monkey. And a bunch of critiquing the clothes at the mall.

Some things I need to get done still this week: DCON stuff straightened out, Spring Break trip straightened out, and I don't know. Other things I think.

Quote of the Day:

Song of the Day: "Untouched" by The Veronicas. Haven't quite looked into the lyrics, meaning, music video, or wiki article for this song yet - but I like it.

Anticipated Movie of the Day:
I Love You, Man -Haha, oh the reaction I got from my friends on New Years when we all first saw a preview for this was priceless. Expected release date, March 20, 2009. Oh, that's coming up suprisingly fast.

House perk of the Day: Not living with my CRAZY FAMILY! >O and not having to worry about toasters being left on the coffee table...

Punctuation of the Day: Ampersand [&] , because I now know what the "an' " symbol is called. So, in the category of words I pronounce different than everyone else -- I pronounce "&" as "an" but I use it to mean "and", I don't know why I do this. ps: Mike bought a decorative ampersand today at Carlton cards that was 90% off (as were all the cards there, which I bought 50$ worth of for only 4+$!)

Facebook Bumpersticker of the Day:

Now that I've posted the one above, I like this other one way better:rofl.

Happy Singles Awareness Day!

Hahaha, oh man I'm a hoot. No, but really, Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Though, I am quite aware I am single once again on my birthday and this blasted holiday. A fact Patsy so happily pointed out by pointing to all the Valentine's Day decorations we encountered today. (jk Patsy)

So, today was fun but also not. There was some downsides that drove me crazy, I got my security deposit on the house all set up nicely, and there was shopping and Chinese food and v**ina's and it was great! The V**ina monologues was so awkward, but so funny, lol. Not always for the reason it was trying to be.

For anyone still confused by my last post, If You Seek Amy is pronounced "F-U-[See]-K me." Sorry I'm a prude about language on my blog, just the way I am :/

But yes, as far as Birthdays go, this continues on ones that will annoy me - but there were alot of good points that I'm glad happened and I have great friends that I would not trade for the world :D

Quote of the Day:
"My grandpa can fit through anything!" -Me, referring to his risky driving.
"That's what she said!" - Kayla.

*following conversation proceeds to explore the likely hood of girlfriends saying that to their boyfriends. Turns out, no, it wasn't what she said.*

House-perk of the Day: There is no flooded basement. Having grown up in a house where the basement has not been remodeled since the Roosevelt administration, let I can't tell you how annoying flooded basements are. I once bought a shirt that looks like blue/white graph paper, wore it once, and the dirty water from my stupid basement stained it ugly! Luckily, the same shirt was soon on sale and I bought a replacement. Also, wet basements = cockroaches, and mice. We've never had a cockroach problem, but we had a mouse once! Though this may not have been in relation to the basement, we think Kim's piano may have brought it in. And a *lot* of christmas wrapping paper has been lost to the floods of my basement back home. And even though our new house does not have a basement, this is better than having a damp/mildewy/soggy/flooded basement.

Song of the Day: "Nine in the Afternoon" - Panic! at the Disco. No reason, just a song that comes up on my Pandora sometimes that I like. And I like the phrase.

Friend of the Day: Jen! Because she's the only friend who actually got me a gift for me on my Birthday, and delivered it to my desk in the middle of the night, coolest thing of the day! So let me tell you something about Jen. So, and I hope she doesn't take this as an insult because I'm quite fond of her delivering me brownies right now - but she's always struck me as very much a combination of two fictional characters...

Only not as crazy as Bree, and her moms not like Lorelei. These are good qualities though. And I felt like making that graphic. So in closing, remember folks -- never loan more money than you can afford to lose to friends! Especially if you think they may be scamming you. Just a public service announcement of the Judge-Judaic sort. Happy Birthday me, turning 20 -- and Happy Valentines Day to all the amazing girl -just-friends in my life, I appreciate you all more than you know :)

I'm not a Its 4 am

For my good friend Kayla, I would gladly pick up a 4-8 am shift so she may have some fun, especially when I think of how bad her birthday party went. But I am so not a 4am-8am person x_x although I did sleep from 10:30-3, so thats like, 5.5 hours. We'll see, but Thursdays are my crazy-crazy bad busy days, cause I have the most classes and work today. Oh, but I don't work Thursday nights anymore so I'll get to go to bed early. Thats nice.

So I bought Grand Theft Auto III and Minority Report for PS2 - and I don't remember how to play either of them, lol. I can't figure out how to get a mission on GTA, and I couldn't figure out how to use weapons or find where I was supposed to go in the brief period I was playing MR. But horray, bought more PS2 games!

I'm fairly excited to be getting a house next year, which will hopefully go well, I'm thinking it will. The only trepidation I'm feeling is likely over the change from the security of the dorms. Cause I will bust'a foo' they tryta steal my beautiful TV...

Oh! And I was elected President of Circle K for 2009-2010 :D Thank you everyone, I could not have done this without your support, and with your continued help, I look forward to making the Akron Circle K club an even more fun and exciting club to be in! Oh man, I'm going to be a politics-nerd with this whenever I can. Like instead of officers, I'm def calling them my cabinet. Unless I decide thats a bad idea, but I like cabinet so much more!

Funny shi* of the day: Antiques Roadshow: 2505. This is mild-lols, I think the link that sent me to it made it funnier than it was, but it wasn't bad. Worth watching.

Quote of the Day: "BUNNIES! BUNNIES IT MUST BE BUNNIEEEEES! ....or maybe midgets!" - First song/housemate moment I've had with Kat. Me and Patsy have had these a bunch, but this is the first one with Kat - yay! lol.

I also love that Patsy bookmarked and favorited my blog because I'm ridiculous, but I don't remember her exact words which had me cracking up on the inside for the rest of the night. Also that Gomez loved the Pantsuit-rainbow! What a great meeting that was!!!

Song of the Day: "If U Seek Amy" by Britney Spears. This was on the radio when me and Kayla went to the O.G., and I'd never heard it but I like it. Proof that, as SNLHillary implied, Britney Spears would rise again! Hahaha, I love that quote so much... Oh, so reading the lyrics, this line is pretty bad gramatically speaking: "All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to If You Seek Amy."

Oh shi*! So writing that, I considered it probably means something else -- then I read the youtube comment by poisonbaberox: "dude! it took me foreeveerr to figure out what she meant!
SOOO CLEVER !" So now I can't do my homework till I figure out what it means.

*UPDATE!* Oh! I GET IT! Okay, if you don't want this spoiled don't read the rest of this paragraph but I can't imagine why you wouldn't (?) If You Seek Amy, pronounce the words as letters and the sentence (ending with "me") will make sense in context.

*NEW!* House-perk of the day: Trinket shelves! That's right, the place we selected has these trinket shelves that go around the room, and I don't know if I have the kind of trinkets that it would best be served by. Hm, I shall consider.

Just another Manic Monday

Okay, I've kinda pieced this together between classes all day. But yes, another week is here, this one ends with Friday the 13th -- my birthday! I'm not particularly excited though, we're not really doing anything for it at home or at college :/ ugh, I wish my family celebrated things. So I'm about to head to my history class, but I've found this "Learn Korean" thing on youtube I'm gonna try to utilize. This could prove interesting, I hope.

Birthday List Continued:
5. A Barley House Hoodie - 25$ - very cool! T-shirt? Eh, not particularly so.

6. Applewood Books - So, available at Barnes and Noble and certain Government stores (also online) [Note: Not Borders...] are a series of, in my opinion, cool little leather-bound-y-looking books on important things in Government. I already own the U.S. Constitution (autographed by Hillary Clinton n.n!) and the Declaration of Independence. But there are some other books in the series I would find interesting and like to have in my possession :D Like the Jefferson Bible - or the new testament, edited by Thomas Jefferson to remove the "magic/miracles" and make Jesus out to be really just a philospher and good-doer. Or Common Sense by Thomas Paine. You'll note these particular versions are cooler than say, a paper back or something - as most of these are actually in the public domain.

So watching The Wizard of Oz the other day was a ton of fun, I'm so glad my TV can offer itself to movie parties finally. We actually watched it because earlier in the evening we had this great conversation:

Quote of the Day:
"Would you have to? Morally?" - Mike
"Ethically?" - Sarah P.
"Spiritually,... physically..." - Me
"positively,... absolutely" - Patsy
"Undeniably, and reliably deeaaaad!" - Me & Patsy, followed by laughter fit and some strange/confused looks.

Image of the Day: Hahaha, this image entertains me. Makes me think of how I have a button-up shirt of almost every color, in fact, I've been inspired to make a collage of me-pictures like this one day. It's on my list of things to do.

"On the island,..."

So, boredom has taken over my life. Played Silent Hill a bunch, The Matrix, even watched this "Killer Tomatoes Eat France" movie (at least more than half of it, it seemed to keep going and going after what I'd thought was the climax of the film so I turned it off...) And with a week left till my birthday, its important I get to my list!

Oh, but first let me say - for reasons I don't remember I was looking into Islands on Lake Erie, and there are unmanned islands on lake erie! OMG - I want to go to an abandoned island! This one below, Mouse Island I believe, is just big enough for that to be cool, and just close enough to get there by a tiny boat I would be able to rent/get rather than a giant one I can't afford!!! I can't wait til the day I can call mom and say "Hey, I'm trapped on a deserted island..." List of things to do, def. (the reason this is poorly cropped is so I could get the passing boat in for size comparison.)

And here's a thing from Facebook I don't like posting a ton of notes, but felt like posting somewhere:

Rules: It's harder than it looks! Copy to your own note, erase my answers, enter yours, and tag 10 people. Use the first letter of your name to answer each of the following questions. They have to be real. . .nothing made up! If the person before you had the same first initial, you must use different answers. You cannot use any word twice and you can't use your name for the boy/girl name question. Have Fun!!

2. A four Letter Word: Ache

3. A boy's Name: Anthony

4. A girl's Name: Allison

5. An occupation: Architect

6. A color: Aqua

7. Something you wear: Apron

8. A food: Alfalfa

9. Something found in the bathroom: Air freshener
10. A place: Alaska

11. A reason for being late: accidently slept in?

12. Something you shout: ATTEN, HUT!

13. A movie title: American Pie

18. A type of car: Amphibious vehicle

19. A song title: All You Need is Love

20. A verb: Actuate.

Song of the Day:
"I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. Lol, oh the 70s... At the start of this her spin looks like she's going to transform into Wonder Woman. (How WW transforms.)

Quote of the Day: [Link to Youtube video of]
"[re:Bill] I am, so grateful to him, for a lifetime of uh... *pauses, shakes her head smiling* all kinds of experiences..." *her and room laugh*- Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton.
(Lol, oh man-- that's great. The old woman behind Clinton that laughs, btw, is Hillary's mom.)

Quote of the other Day:
"I'm not just sure, I'm HIV positive." - Cartman, temporarily infected with AIDs on South Park.

She's Just Not That into You

ugh, fine, I'll get over her >>;

Stubborn till the end, that's the sailor's way. Nah, don't know what the heck I'm talking about, but I'm at work at the desk and feel like continuing my birthday list count-up.

4. The First Season of Veronica Mars on DVD. One of my favorite shows ever, Veronica's wit and humor is the stuff I aspire to be. Not to mention she solves mysteries! You can't get cooler than all that combined into one. And I haven't got a new DVD set in a long time, and I finally have a DVD player again.

Quote of the Day:
"The world bursts at the seams with people ready to tell you you're not good enough. On occasion, some may be correct. But do not do their work for them. Seek any job; ask anyone out; pursue any goal. Don't take it personally when they say "no" - they may not be smart enough to say "yes."
- Keith Olbermann, The Way I See it #17 (Got this off a Starbucks cup.)

Quote of the other Day:
"I want to go to there." - Liz Lemon, 30 Rock. Lol, i don't know why but this line cracks me up.

Song of the Day: The Gospel Truth, Disney's Hercules. For reasons beyond my understanding, I was up last night watching random disney songs on youtube. Disappointing, I know. Something about the Hercules Muses seemed cool though, and I've always been a fan of Greek mythology.
