Graphic Design

So still on the Star Trek kick. Now, since the first time I saw Star Trek - the Voyager episode "Night" c. June of 1999 by the way -- I have loved the graphics on that show. Star Trek has been at the forefront of computer graphics since the original series. Things that look silly now, were the most groundbreaking (on a TV budget) effects television has seen. But now, living in the age when anyone with a laptop can pretty much do anything with graphic design, I wanna see what I can do! Express my own artistic talent so to speak. I am not interested in art enough to want it to be my career, or even a hobby I take too seriously -- there are plenty of people that pour their heart and soul into this trade and I wouldn't want to take an ounce of praise away from them, cause they deserve it. With me its more of a passing hobby, one of the millions of aspects of the world I would like to know enough to get by in should I need to/for the heck of it. " Termites of Loracus

People Say I'm Forgetful

Last night came to Garfield to hang with Amanda and Danielle, boy did those plans fluctuate! Amanda had dealings with a washing machine, so I spent most of the day time at home watching Star Trek DVDs, then went out to Parma Town with her -- bought the Bad Romance (Remixes) which is the Gaga American version of a single I guess? Anyway, got Applebee's with Danielle (who I haven't hung with in forever!) and was joined by Sarah who got out of her friend Pure Romance party earlier than expected, and Panda came too. Then Brit joined us, as we decided to go to some bar called Islanders in Middleberg. That was fun, there were some issues - like I didn't exactly make a friend when I asked the DJ: "Can I request.... No-Beastie Boys?" (Because Sarah hates Beastie Boys) he was like "No, that's my favorite band." So that was a great way to start the night, haha. Then I was doing all the drink buying when it was ladies night, so they got 2$ drinks >>; er

Stuff That's Been Entertaining Me

As you may know, I go through my periods of obsessions on occasion. Pokemon, Lady Gaga, etc. Well it is safe to say I am in the middle of a Star Trek-obsession phase, that's really all I've spent my free time doing lately - reading, writing, watching playing, and listening to Star Trek! With the magic of uTorrent, I'm able to watch all my favorite episodes I can't afford to buy! (Since a typical season of Star Trek costs about/more than a hundred dollars. Unless I buy it used.) Add to that there are 28 seasons of Star Trek, across 5 series'. While contributing to the various Star Trek wikis , and fan-fiction sites -- I found the above picture. It looks so cool! I found it on this message board , and mean no infraction on the authors rights except to exemplify and promote how good this picture looks. I want graphic design technology just to do this for fun, not like as a job or anything. Sigh. Haha, oh the magic of uTorrent. I also downloaded the first couple e

Wow, sorry for the blog black out this past half-month. My daily schedule has been pretty hectic. So it's 10am, I've got until 4:00pm for my Census meeting to get caught up in all my secondary priorities, blogging included. OMG! We saw Lady Gaga in concert last week on Wednesday!!! AHHHHHH! I think we all unanimously agreed it was incredibly awesome. Sarah and Britt definitely wish they were taller so they could've enjoyed it more, but it was still the experience of the year. I was worried pretty much up until we got in the door that our tickets would in some way not work, but all turned out well. Our "Tickets Express" thing was basically I just swipe my credit card and it remembers me and prints my tickets. So alls well. Then we got floor (not-really-seats!) So a couple of hours of standing, but we were two meters from the front island of the stage!!! AHHH! It was Amazing! As usual per awesome experience, Facebook for the primary pictures, here for the extras/b

Return to the Abandoned Hospital

Image
Ahhh, it's been like a month since I've blogged! Time to finally post the continued story of my abandoned hospital exploration.  Actually, I think I'll keep this primarily pictures.   Immediatly after getting in, the first room we found was an auditorium/lecture hall/theater thing. Amanda noted that they have a similar room used as a lecture hall on HOUSE . It was cool, most of the seats were in perfect condition but the theater stage part was pretty badly degraded. Looking out from the stage, these things on the sides reminded me of Ford's Theater where Lincoln was assassinated. Note the detail on the ceiling. The entry hall that would connect the lecture hall to the outside world; none of these enterences/exits were accessible though. The walls were made with some pretty intense polished stone. And there were two giant mirrors on the left and right of this room out of view, they were pretty darn creepy considering how pitch black this room was without the flash. Aman
