So Many White Women, So Little Time.

So my day has been jumping whiplash-style from awful to awesome. My morning went well, I got up early to get a haircut, workout with Aubree from ASG (who, as a former ROTC member, had an intense workout routine!) Also went to American Eagle to get a new hoodie I wanted, but they took over half an hour in the back looking for it. I'm glad they were able to find it, and they were generally pretty nice about it, except I was kinda left just wandering around. But in the end I paid 10$ less than I was hoping, and 20$ less than I was expecting! Anyway, did a bunch of ASG stuff, Circle K meeting which I was just annoyed with everyone at because I had to defend their behavior to Wooster which I really wasn't expecting to have to do, but then got Starbucks with Patsy and all was better because of an awesome phone call I had making political connections! The rest of my night was spent relaxing, catching up on the DVDs I've been meaning to watch, and finally going back and watchin...

Spring Break, Part 5: Hyde Park, FDR's House

Image
As Sunday rolled around, we needed to head home to Akron. I'd already looked into visiting Franklin D. Roosevelt's house in Hyde Park before the trip, and it looked like I'd get my wish -- cause unless we wanted to drive through the middle of Manhattan and a million tunnels (which we didn't), we'd pass relatively close to it. Along the way, we *Happened* to pass through Chappaqua, NY -- current residence of the Clintons! Alan Arkin (from Little Miss Sunshine) and "the lead singer of Survivor" also live here apparently. You'd think you'd be able to find a decent restaurant, but we couldn't find a single one! Arr. Haha, also on the way there we crossed this toll free bridge. (The two in Manhattan cost 8 bucks a piece! Craziness!) It had several signs warning "DO NOT TAKE PICTURES OF BRIDGE" that were pretty serious. Naturally, Sarah had to stick it to'm - so for you're viewing pleasure, THE FORBIDDEN BRIDGE!: After a morning o...

Spring Break, Part 1: Centralia

Image
HOLY SH*T! I just scared myself half to death. Okay, over the course of the last 48 hours I haven't gotten enough sleep. Work 12a-4a, then 8a-5p with other craziness bookending those. So I'm pretty heavily falling asleep at the desk - and out of my peripheral vision just now the stand-alone hand sanitizer dispenser looked like a ancient Greek statue that was about to kill me ! Like I legitimately almost went to red alert, defensive mode. I *Really* need to sleep. ... So. Moving on. Me and Sarah decided to take Spring Break in New York City, and on the way there stop in Centralia, Pennsylvania ! I've wanted to go here for like, 5 years! This is the place that INSPIRED Silent Hill !!! (To those not in the know, Silent Hill is my favorite video game series ever. Yes, more than Pokemon.) A little more background, this actually makes more sense if you've seen the Silent Hill movie than if you've just seen the video game - but in the movie and game, Silent Hill is this ...

D'OH!

Ya know, considering the number of things that went wrong (in hindsight) my day was actually going very good for most of it. The weekend in general even. Got my housing stuff straightened out, the key to the house, and now all that's left is to move my stuff in (a bed - in particular.) Had dinner at House of Hunan II (the first one is still missing somewhere...) which was cool, got to see Erin and Will and Dan who I haven't seen in a while! (Kat I saw at ICON, kinda ruining the "welcome back Kat" theme for me.) But it was cool. Today went shopping at WalMart for some house stuff. Bought my two favorite parts of the house so far: a boat painting to put above the couch at Goodwill, as a reference to the Simpsons! (Pause: Haha, sorry, got distracted looking at Google Images of Simpsons couch gags to illustrate my point.) Hahaha, it shall be awesome! Marge actually said in an episode that she painted that boat painting. Which is why I love the really tiny canon-point in t...
