The Day Norway Støød Still
Blah@the Norwegian alphabet, just trying to form a pun but it's being difficult. So, was takin a gander at the current events feed on Wikipedia when I came across this interesting tidbit...
Yeah, I know, it looks computer generated -- but it's not. There are many pictures like this taken from across the country of Norway (location pictured below) of an unidentified object in the night sky that produced a strange eerie blue tail, and then proceeded to create a spiral effect. I've since found some interesting European reports on it...
Last night seeing this, I thought: Aliens? Russians? Strange, new Aurora Borealis??? Scientifically, apparently aurora borealises are green while this is blue. Meteorites? A fallen piece of space junk? Tons of questions arose, but this is no hoax: tons of people in Norway saw it. To top that off, 'twas the Night before Obama came to pick up his Nobel prize. Some even called it a sign from the Nobel gods!
Luckily with the wonders of technology (and blogspot not letting me post last night) you don't have to wait long to find out what this mystery REALLY was! The New York Times reported this morning that it was in fact a failed Russian missile test. They are attempting to waste all their money on a replacement missile for a still fully functional remnant of Soviet Technology. The NYT article goes on to say this is a huge catastrophe for the Russian military, as they are investing a heck of alot of money on this working, and it's failed at least 5 times, but I'm sure never so beautifully as it did this time.
This site has an amazingly excellent explanation of what it was before it was even figured out. Kudos to them for hitting the nail on the head pretty perfectly.
Song of the Day: TiK ToK by Kesha. Haha, this was I think Angela's facebook status the other day and ever since everyone has admitted their obsession with this song! Even I like it, admittedly, it has alot of good rhymes that entertain me - one of my favorite aspects of a song. But watching the music video, she looks like a hobo Taylor Swift!

It stopped mid-air, then began to move in circles. Within seconds a giant spiral had covered the entire sky. Then a green-blue beam of light shot out from its centre - lasting for ten to 12 minutes before disappearing completely.
Onlookers describing it as 'like a big fireball that went around, with a great light around it' and 'a shooting star that spun around and around'.

"Jonah Weiner of Slate Magazine gave the song a negative review quoting "The song sets up ship on the fault line between charmingly daft and deeply irritating." He then continued, making comparisons regarding other artists stating "The rapped verses are sub-Fergie-grade, proudly stuffed with groaners and to-the-hell-with-the-expirating-date slang." Weiner also made comment that the plotline plays a sequel to 'Just Dance' by Lady Gaga: "girl wakes up drunk, stays drunk, finds a dance floor and (spoiler alert) gets even drunker."
