'tis The Season for Angela Lansbury!
Haha, top two favorite Disney movies? Beauty and the Beast, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. But Bedknobs and Broomsticks doesn't get nearly as much fanfare as a lot of other awesome Disney movies, like Mary Poppins or The Sound of Music. In fact there's like nothing about it on the internet, unfortunately. So I thought I'd share a few of the Spells of Astoroth for all the internet to enjoy!
Here's a bit of the cover. Haha, I wish I had a book that seemed centuries upon centuries old! Even if it was just aged that way. Today, at my elementary school - there was a video that showed how to make Ancient Egyptian papyrus. Yeah, gonna do that someday!
The other page they show. Haha, anyone who has seen the movie will tell you they do not say the most famous of Astoroth's spells in his book. For some reason you have to get the accompanying comic book published centuries later?
To fly a Broom: Clasp the broom with both hands. Take an easy, graceful, sideways position. To start up the broom: Lakipo, Nikrif, Scrumpet, Leetch!
To turn someone into a white rabbit, though Eglantine Price (Angela Landsbury's character) seems to think it will turn him into a toad: Filigree, Apogee, Pedigree, Perigee!
The Marvelous Traveling Spell: (Though this one doesn't get much attention I'd imagine. It's more of a one-use thing, then the effects are pretty helpful themselves!) Hellebore, Henbane, Aconite, Glowworm fire, firefly light!
Well, downloaded the soundtracks to B&B, B&B, and Hercules -- so now I'm listening to Beauty and the Beast - which coincidentally also stars Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Potts! In fact, it's almost time to break out the Mrs. Santa Claus DVD and listen to some Bedknobs and Broomstick-ripoff songs. In fact, I should make that a winter-snowed in yearly tradition! The Angela Lansbury triple-threat, Beauty and the Beast, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Mrs. Santa Claus marathon! Complete with Snowman cream-cheese thing, hot chocolate, snuggies, and assorted Christmas cookies - just like last year! haha. Good, times....
