Merry Christmas blog-followers, as I was telling Angela the other day -- this year has been so busy with things to do it's almost like I'm too busy living life to blog about it. A dilemma I'm certainly happy to suffer from! I just hope that I remember to enjoy the moment, if I am not documenting them quite as diligently. The family got together for Christmas at Grandma's yesterday, and the immediate family is all here at home today. David got mom and I gifts for the first time in more than 10 years -- and he got mom cash "to make up for all the years he forgot to get her gifts." Which I thought was bizaare, and I don't think mom quite knows how to react to it, but I'll make sure she spends it on gifty-things for herself. It just seems to go against tradition to get your parents cash for a gift ever. Even gift cards are pushing it, if there isn't some level of thought put into it. What are, phrases that really annoy me? So Angela put up a Facebook status about the Xbox going Redring, so I google/Wikipedia-ed it . I've determined Xbox 360s suck. I have never particularly wanted one, but now I for certainly don't want one. The studies Wikipedia cites (key word: CITES) says they screw up up to 60% of the time because of errors in construction. WTF? But I do want a Playstation... but not a PS3. They suck too . So I was wondering what the progress on making a PS4 was, and I found this beauty: Aaaah, OMG I WANT IT! It is so very beautiful. Back in the day, I played video games pretty darned often. I remember the days where I played Nintendo and Gameboy everyday, and even occasionally my brother's Sega. Then I got a Playstation, and David got an Nintendo 64. Then I got a Playstation 2, and David got an XBox. (It's like there's a gaming war right under our own roof!) Then David got a Nintendo Gamecube, and I got a Nintendo DS. Then David got an XBox 360. And that, friends, is where the story ends. Our household, alas, will likely never see a Wii or Playstation 3. Haha, so success of the weekend: beating Portal at Sarah's. This game is so simple but incredibly awesome!!! In fact I'm dedicated this whole blog post to it! I'll try to summarize, and oh,... If you in your life plan to play this incredibly awesome game, which I recommend you doing, and want to be surprised by the ending do not read this post. But most of the people I know don't really care, so here we go. *********SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! *************** "Portal" is this video game where you wake up in a prison/science lab-y kinda room as the subject, and you quickly find a gun that shoots one end of a portal (the other end is predetermined) so you use these portals to find your way through mini-puzzles. The puzzles continue getting harder, and eventually you get another gun that can shoot the other end of the portal so you can create whole worm-holes on the walls.
