Black Friday and a Movie

Image
Well, I had an eventful enough Black Friday I think. Didn't partake in any late night shopping lines, stayed up late after my friend Danielle's Thanksgiving Wedding to play Uncharted 2 into the wee hours of the morning instead. (Favorite PS3 series, by the way!) Almost bought this for $19.95; did NOT buy this for $76.96. In the afternoon, Panda and I went shopping out at South Park Mall -- haha, managed to spend the whole afternoon there and only bought one thing between the two of us. I got Tomb Raider 2: The Cradle of Life on DVD for a wopping $3! Almost bought some awesome dress clothes from H&M , but they weren't priced correctly and I wasn't about to pay Express standard prices on Black Friday. Then we went and saw Wreck It Ralph , which actually was better than I was expecting! I kinda hoped that the internet rumor I heard about GlaDOS from Portal being in it was true -- but it didn't take long for the logic of the in-movie universe to effectiv...

What Would Regina Wear: Mens Edition

Image
So the only TV show that I go all out to find a way to watch these days is Once Upon a Time . ( The Daily Show with Jon Stewart , and The Colbert Report would probably come in second, and I really don't go out of my way to watch these at all.) Instead, rather than wait the 24 hours for Once to get to Hulu , my boss (also a Once fan) has graciously invited me over her house to watch it on Sunday nights with her roommate! Love this job! My favorite character from the show, as I have past alluded to? Mayor Regina Mills (AKA: The Evil Queen), played by the lovely Lana Parrilla. The premise for the show, one more time, is "...all the fairy tale characters you know and love have been brought to our world by an evil curse, where they have lost their memories..." yadda yadda yadda savior, Maine. Anyway. As everyone knows, I do love Leading Women Bad Asses, especially when they rock a pantsuit! So I thought I'd post a bit about how I wish I had clothes that were mens ...

Rocking a Vest

Image
I have wanted to, for some time now, be able to rock a good vest. Some people can easier than others, but I am still determined to find that perfect vest out there that I look awesome in. I bought one today because it was so cheap at Burlington Coat Factory, but I will probably return it after trying it on with practically every combination of my button-up shirts (which, suffice it to say, is alot.) On a separate note, I also bought a square-bottom knit tie which I think I could pull off with a spare few outfits, but only in the fall. It was also really cheap at Burlington Coat Factory, so I will probably keep that. Lately in particular I have been searching, after this past year of Once Upon a Time with character Sherriff Graham -- who consistantly wore a vest and leather jacket and looked fantastic doing it. (Googling now, I wonder if some of his badass image is in fact the piece he carries...) He also has a Scottish accent and that "rough" facial hair look -- s...

Survivor: Andrew's Closet

Image
Well, just before Christmas the Am-Vets people came to take clothing donations -- so I went through my clothes to donate what I could, and what I don't wear, and anything that maybe just got so old I can't pull it off anymore. Well, to procrastinate getting anything done today - one of my last days of Break and before New Years, I thought it would be interesting to do a quick inventory of ALL OF my clothes, lol. Shirts and Stuff 49 T-shirts 42 Free/CKI T-shirts 37 Button-up shirts (Casual) 10 Polos (Standard-collared) 7 Hoodies 5 Thermals 2 Sweaters 2 Polos (Henley-collared) Dress Clothes 18 Ties 12 Dress Button-up shirts 7 Belts 6 Dress pants  2 Suit Jackets 2 Dress Shoes Footwear ( These are not actually mine ) 9 Flipflops 4 Shoes 1 "Slipper/shoes" 1 pair of Boots Below the Belt 24 pairs of Boxers 8 Basketball/Mesh shorts 4 normal shorts 3 Swim Trunks 6 pants (Jeans) 3 pair pants (Non-Jean) Weather-Specific Garments 1 Winter C...

The Power of One

Image
Song of the Day: Okay, I can't handle this: Herman Cain, a Republican presidential candidate (and former Pizza place-business man) has had a history of political gaffes, while at the same time being the front runner briefly (which basically describes every candidate in the Republican field this year...) But it turns out that Mr. Cain had quoted a "poet" in one of the Republican debates that I haven't paid any attention to, and that poet was in fact Donna Summer. And by "poetry", he really meant a song she wrote for the movie Pokemon 2000 (the only place that song has ever been played.) Mr. Cain later admitted he got the quote from Pokemon. ( Another youtube video here .) WTF. Anyway, not remembering the song, I went to listen to it -- it's actually fairly unbearable. After like 6 seconds I can't stand any more of it at all whatsoever, but by all means, give it a try: Oh wait, did I mention that Herman Cain dropped out of the race recently?...

Shoppin' pre-Exhaustion

Image
Well, I'm worried if I don't type this out now I'll end up forgetting and this past weekend will go unrecorded. So lets see, starting Friday I think -- Panda texted me "I need to go shopping, like now." So drove up to Garfield to hang with her after my morning of meetings and schoolwork. Panda's headbands, becoming her new trademark (replacing the Panda theme) Reminds me of me and my rainbow button-up shirts! Yay for Shopping with Panda. That is like, one of my favorite things to do - thank you consumerism! Every time I go clothes shopping with Panda I think of Patsy's voice saying "Whenever I see Panda, she always looks so cuuute!" and it's not even with a particularly funny inflection but I just think its funnier than it really is - haha. But yeah, that took a couple of hours, I didn't really find that much that appealed to me unfortunately. Except: I finally found a new pair of dress shoes!!! My old ones were like, a size (or 2)...

Make Your Own Pokemon Trainer

Image
Happy Memorial Day everyone! Wow, I only managed to find time to make like 2 blogs this whole month x_x sorry loyal readers! I will continually try to update even if they aren't long drawn out in-depth novels. Today, for example, I'll keep it brief: with Sarah competing with her Engineering car-making team down in Joplin, Missouri (where that huge tornado hit) and not really being able to talk to her since she left almost a week ago- I am looking forward to her coming home tonight! :D I'm in a artistic mood, but not a drawing mood, so I'm looking for inspiration on DeviantArt . And somehow I found my way to this AWESOME WEBSITE: Website of the Day: Ubala.com/Games/Pokemon Trainer ! This is awesome, you can make your own pokemon trainer -- which I just did! Alas, it doesn't look like they have a girls option - at least I don't see it. This is cool, I wish personally I had this pokemon trainers outfit actually. Always love black with yellow outline.

It's a Tie

( Retroactive Blogging : So I wrote this in May, and for reasons I don't remember haven't gotten around to posting it yet. So I apologize if any time sensitive topics don't make sense anymore...) Ugh, I'm a bit on the broke side as we start Summer . Add to that my time seems to be filled with non-paid work like 24 hours a day x_x That doesn't mean I can't build my online shopping list on my blog! Haha, so I was perusing Gizmodo as I often do and I found this "eco-friendly" (just because something isn't made of stryofoam plastic should not necessarily make it eco-friendly...) tie. Made of recycled/reclaimed wood. Apparently it's fashionable, haha, I could imagine wearing it to ASG for the interesting looks - but it seems difficult to imagine being taken seriously. I wouldn't wear it to a meeting with the Dean for example. But I dunno, always good to have options, and one day I may feel braver than today... On the website Gizmodo recomm...

Dogs Don't Know It's a Tie!

Image
Omg. So I'm googling around as I often do, and I am having to physically restrain myself from buying... It's just. So. AWESOME! Lol, but after a few wearings for shock and laugh value, I feel like there are few professional situations I could get away with wearing this to. I probably couldn't wear it to student teaching umm-ever. Internship. Job interview. ASG meetings, perhaps, if we had a vote on more Vegan options. See my dilemma? UGH! And there's a matching wallet ... The watch I could probably get away with. :( BUT NOW I WANT THE WHOLE SET... You can imagine Why I want these bacon-inspired accessories... Haha, Ohhh Lady Gaga... So funny story. The Key of Awesome's parody of Bad Romance jokingly referred to her crazy outfits and suggested she had a "...bathing suit made out of raw meat..." low and behold, almost a YEAR later it had come true! hahaha, I can't help but wonder if she got the idea from the Key of Awesome parodies. Well...

Outfitting

Image
When you combine an inspiration like Lady Gaga, with the fact that I own pretty much all the clothes I could want from American Eagle or Hollister Co. - with a love of shopping, you have to get pretty creative to find more interesting clothes. Neon Yellow isn't as shocking as it used to be. Not that shocking is what I'm looking for, just someone that is different enough to be interesting - but still fits in to a degree. It's alot easier for a girl to find this I think than guys. Guys clothes are pretty much all the same. Until the other day, when while roaing eBay I found several things I want to buyz! n.n Haha, sorry to the people who really don't care.   Sigh, if only I was Asian. Darn them and their non-western skinniness ><;; The following one is my favorite though! In Other News, While trying to figure out what I want to be for Halloween (Sarah is thinking one of the Aliens from "Avatar" , and Brittany wants to be "Raven,") I'm s...

Woo, got new shoes. Felt like doing a clothes shopping blog. New Orange Nike's, except the laces are orange not white.   ( Flash Nike SB Dunk Low ) In regards to shoes, since pretty much Elementary school I've only ever got tennis shoes. I don't really feel skater enough, or whatever enough for the most other types of shoes (and not being athletic enough keeps me from getting the too-cool Nike or other athletic shoes. At Sarah's encouragement to expand my horizons however, I went to Journey's at Chapel Hill, and the guy was really annoying but had some good ideas. And though he had the shoe I wanted, he was too annoying about it so I opted to look around more. Which really meant the next day I would get the same pair at Fairlawn. But Fairlawn did not have my size (serves me right...) but they insisted it runs big and to get half a size smaller would be fine. WRONG. Painful, stinging, poking feeling on the outer rim of my foot. I didn't really realize this t...

I dream of ..., Genie

Image
So just started my 4a-6a shift at the Exchange desk, and while perusing the internet today I found an article of clothing I WANT! And since " Andrew's wardrobe " is one of the tags I can use on a blog that I don't think I use all that often, I'm gonna base today's on some clothes I wanna buy. And as for the title, I occasionally check out " Lady Gaga Daily: The Fashion Blog " which documents and explores all of Lady Gaga's different ridiculous outfits and how they are developed, etc. In it, the author of the blog often finishes with "Genie, I want a pair!" ie, wishing for them. So here are some clothes, if there be a genie, that I wish for. The first article of clothing is this Mandarin Collar Jacket from YesStyle . I like it! This is a combination of my two favorite things, futuristic-y looking things, and Asian looking things. I occasionally ask myself what business suits will look like in 40 years (because they are a slow-to-change f...

The Interview

Image
So - just got back from my group interview at American Eagle Outfitters, wish me luck! I may hear as early as tonight if they want me to come in for training tomorrow morning! I really hope I get it, but if not, I won't be *crushed* -- but I'll be happy that I've made the biggest stride in getting a real job in a while. So, thought I'd let you in on a little behind the scenes commentary on my interview today! First, I didn't even know what to wear!? Do I dress fancy-schmancy, shirt+tie+dress shoes? My first instinct was the mantra "you can't look too professional" but with Sarah and Google's help, I changed my mind. You can in fact look too professional, so I'm quite glad I dropped to one of my button ups with khaki's, and even that may have been too dressy. But yeah, if you ever interview at American Eagle Outfitters, or somewhere similar (maybe this blog is to help people who are interviewing there --) definitly wear *nice* casual. I did ...

It's that time again...

Image
Hm, what to be for Halloween. While driving today, me and Sarah decided to stick wiht one of our many possible-costume themes this year, and went with Pokemon (over The Wizard of Oz characters.) Now I have to find a good Pokemon to make into a costume! Turns out, I'm not the first person to do so (duuh?) but the "cosplay" (costumes made for Anime conventions) out there are RIDICULOUS! Some are clearly the result of massive patience, creativity, and dedication. I like this one. I would definitely just settle for doing this, if it didn't mean totally stealing this guys idea and not being creative. I found this particular image in this video btw. (link) Now these young girls chose to make a costume that was themed after the Pokemon, but the intention isn't to look Exactly like the Pokemon (I like the use of feathers, considering their birds afterall.) Lets see. Now I have to come up with a costume for myself. Most have said "you should be Bulbasaur" - bec...

"Harry Potter VI: This Time, It's Personal..."

Image
rofl. That is my quote of the day. I'll explain later. (Wow, Ron looks pi$$ed.) UGH, Harry Potter 6 sucked dragonballz. (haha, note the pun...) It was like 3 hours long and NOTHING HAPPENED. I almost fell asleep, most of the people I went with did. I am a fan of the HP series and I thought it was horrible. There was almost action at like 2 points, but then there wasn't. The climax was dull and predictable. Very disapointing. On the brightside, the lead up was more interesting. Me, Danielle, Sarah, (no, not the ones your thinking of) 'Puma', James and Jin-sik took the bus down town to the Lotte-mart Cinema. (Puma being his western name, haha, when Koreans pick western names it cracks me up. See Also: Van De Kamp.) We first got food at a *gulp* dog restaurant :( yes, its true, dog meat is a Korean delicacy. But modern people almost never eat it, its more of an older people thing. Danielle, Sarah, Puma and James agreed to try some, me and Jin-sik chickened out (haha, anoth...
