A Couple Cool Pictures

Image
First, Panda eventually unknowningly convinced me to get a Tumblr through her reposting things on Facebook and I eventually wanted to know what this thing was. Now I go to it daily - there's always something entertaining on there. ( My profile, name is AJHalliwell of course .) First cool picture I want to share: Sunday night while watching Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (which, by the way, is the most awkward of the Harry Potter movies. There are so many awkward scenes, between poorly made [IMO] romantic scenes and just odd conversation that I don't think was carried out properly.) The best of which would have to be the Girl drama while Ron is unconcious, while ALL the teachers are there just silently watching it play out. Prof. McGonnagal shooting her head back and forth like a Tennis match and Snape's stone-solid face, to Dumbledore's eventual "Oh, to be young..."  But I'm getting off topic: What I'm trying to say is back when I read t...

MLK jr. => Hermes, the Poem

Image
Pffahahahaha, so I discovered this new searchbar tool that raises money every time you search for something for the Martin Luther King jr. memorial in Washington D.C. Downloaded it, and what better way to test it than to search for myself? A search for AJHalliwell obviously brought up this blog, and other websites, (you can't use google btw -- only Yahoo) but I found a poem I apparently wrote in 12th grade! Ahahaha. We were studying the Odyssey, and poetry (or something) and apparently I'd submitted this to Quizzilla and forgotten about it COMPLETELY. (Hermes, you see, was one of my favorite of the ancient greek gods.) Hermes Created by AJHalliwell Tuesday, March 06, 2007 Before reading the Odyssey in English, we were given a worksheet to learn the important greek gods. To make this easier, we all picked a greek god and added our pictures. While looking for good things about Hermes, I randomly felt like rhyming! With wing’ed sandals and staff in hand I fly and delive...

30 Truths (part II)

11.  The top 7 in my iTunes play-counts are Lady Gaga. (Telephone: 183, Bad Romance: 174, Poker Face: 99, etc. The first non-Lady Gaga song is number 8: "Firework" by Katy Perry.) 12. I am a packrat, and inherited that from mom and grandpa. Cleaning my room is such a hassle when I cannot throw away that 2008 Travel Guide to Connecticut cause "I may want to go there some day soon..." psh, USE THE INTERNET! 13. If you don't already know this, I insist on using the word "Pop" over "soda", or one of it's other variants. On that note, I LOVE when I see/hear a TV show use pop - cause "Soda" seems to be so prevalent!  14. I will never, ever, do or smoke any drugs because I find them absolutely repulsive. Caffeine, and legit prescription are obviously exempt from this. 15. My favorite sea-faring vessel is the R.M.S. Carpathia , the ship that rushed faster than their fastest-capable speed in the ice berg-ridden waters to rescue ...

Beautiful Beast of a Blast from the Past

Image
So for various reasons I was googling screen caps from one of my favorite Disney movies, Beauty and the Beast, and I found this super-awesome IMDB website of Voice Actors for cartoons . So I'm going to blow your mind with some revealing Voice Actor revelations.... Did I mention they have voice clips of each individual character too!? Belle was boring and this was her only voice acting. But the Beast was voiced by Robby Benson, known to Patsy & Blondie I'm sure as Sabrina's (first) dad ! (Later replaced by the Clueless girl's second dad.) Actually, let me draw you a diagram... And then Robbie Benson as Sabrina's father was replaced by Doug Sheehan , who played the Dad on Clueless ... But that was after HE replaced Clueless dad #1 (from the TV series), played by Michael Lerner. (This is ignoring the movie , which had it's own dad.) And Sabrina (the character!) actually cameo-ed on Clueless at one point . ( Video: This contrived clip is actually on...

Cleanin Out My Closet

Image
Not literally, but my desktop. Pretty much since getting this labtop, with it's 500 GB memory I haven't made it a priority to keep the desktop or files too clean. My first desk shift of the year, what better time for some Fall cleaning! (Already 1/4th through my shift, nice!) While I'm at it I'll post a few of the things I've been letting pile up. So, a random thing I wanted to ask you if you remembered: 2X-L . He was a robot, which I brought up to Sarah like a month ago. She did not really remember 2X-L. But we had one growing up, and you put in a cassette with some kind of learning adventure and pressed the buttons to select either the right or wrong answer I guess? I don't really remember how he worked, or why I downloaded a picture of him - and the only thing I remember about him was that I wanted to put him on my blog. Well, here he is, now I can delete it haha. Actually if you look at that 2XL link above, you can see an earlier 80's-version of 2XL....

Stuff That's Been Entertaining Me

Image
As you may know, I go through my periods of obsessions on occasion. Pokemon, Lady Gaga, etc. Well it is safe to say I am in the middle of a Star Trek-obsession phase, that's really all I've spent my free time doing lately - reading, writing, watching playing, and listening to Star Trek! With the magic of uTorrent, I'm able to watch all my favorite episodes I can't afford to buy! (Since a typical season of Star Trek costs about/more than a hundred dollars. Unless I buy it used.) Add to that there are 28 seasons of Star Trek, across 5 series'. While contributing to the various Star Trek wikis , and fan-fiction sites -- I found the above picture. It looks so cool! I found it on this message board , and mean no infraction on the authors rights except to exemplify and promote how good this picture looks. I want graphic design technology just to do this for fun, not like as a job or anything. Sigh. Haha, oh the magic of uTorrent. I also downloaded the first couple e...
