Alright, my 30 Rock obsession week is almost over, but I have been thinking of a way to return to New York city for months. Amanda has even pointed out it's been too long since this show has gone on a road trip, and last time I went to New York I definitly didn't get to hit everything I wanted. So this time, I think I'll plan ahead a little bit better. And now that the Roosevelts are not a major target of my trip, I can try harder to find a hotel in Manhattan . 30 Rock & NBC Universal Store : Ha, I had the opportunity to see this place up close last time but time was short and interest was less than it is now -- definitely taking the opportunity to go back there and find some 30 Rock paraphernalia!! Haha, so broken-Sarah and I are watching Top Chef (again!) this time Top Chef: All Stars . And my favorite character (Marcel) is back! He got cheated out of winning Season 2 (which we were watching the other day in a marathon. I've noticed Cable is nothing but marathons...) But he was, according to Wikipedia, offered a SyFy channel cooking show ? Anyway... Bahahaha, I couldn't help but make this comparison cause it kept jumping out at me when I was watching the show the other day. Low and behold, I'm not the only one who's thought this before! Bravo's seen the resemblance (or at least noted it) and so did other people , whom I stole elements of the above pic from. Anyway... This challenge is about going to famous awesome restaurants in New York City , then creating a dish the restaurant's owner would want to put on their menu. So I'm googling all the restaurants so that next time I go to NYC I can go to them, regardless of how expensive they are. ...

Sorry for the long wait readers! :D To refresh your memories of the chronology, it's Thursday (March 18th, 2010 - haha, it's taken me a month to write this!) mid-day -- we've left the disappointing Centralia, Pennsylvania and had lunch in a quaint little Diner in the middle of no where (this is pre- Telephone FYI, so no Diner jokes...) and it was really just a ton of driving. Sarah took over driving after Centralia I believe, so I got some time to read my "The World Without Us" book I'm TRYING DESPERATELY to finish this semester, massive fail. Anyway. So hours later, we pass some major city (may have been Trenton, NJ?) We're not sure. Actually, now that I think about it it was probably New York City just from far away, lol. Oh well. Thursday - 04/08/2010 (today) - is a don't-wear-shoes day. There is a popular Facebook event on the U of A's campus promoting not wearing shoes all day to spread word of the plight faced by millions of children every day, the infections, diseases, and dangers of being raised in poverty without shoes. "Always having to focus on your step, rather than other things." I'm totally participating in this, and think it's a good idea! As Sunday rolled around, we needed to head home to Akron. I'd already looked into visiting Franklin D. Roosevelt's house in Hyde Park before the trip, and it looked like I'd get my wish -- cause unless we wanted to drive through the middle of Manhattan and a million tunnels (which we didn't), we'd pass relatively close to it. Along the way, we *Happened* to pass through Chappaqua, NY -- current residence of the Clintons! Alan Arkin (from Little Miss Sunshine) and "the lead singer of Survivor" also live here apparently. You'd think you'd be able to find a decent restaurant, but we couldn't find a single one! Arr. Haha, also on the way there we crossed this toll free bridge. What's my New Year's Resolution? I want to be less ashamed of my family. For years I've been pi$$ed off at their antics and shenanigans visit after visit. But this year I want to be able to invite people over unafraid that mom is wearing hand-me-down guys' clothes, covered in bleach stains or the most recent development of disgust that I WON'T EVEN MENTION! Lets just say next time I go home, I am DEFINITELY taking mom clothes shopping! But back to positives, had a fun night partying with the roommates at our house in Akron. This is Kat's last (and really our only) big party at this house! Eh, maybe not the MOST successful party, but I think we got what we were goin for.
